Exira's Oldest Inhabitant Gone.

Mrs. Cordelia A. Elliott whose
maiden name was Knapp, was born
in Gloversville, New York, on January
20, 1808 and died at the home of
her son C. D. Woodward, March 2,
1902.
She was married when twenty-one
years of age to Matthen A. Woodward.
They came to Chicago, Illinois,
in the fall of 1837, where Mr.
Woodward died in 1845. Five children
were born to them; two of whom
are living; Mr. C. D. Woodward and
Mrs. Georgie Basham, of this place.
She made her home for many
years with her youngest daughter
coming with her to Exira in 1892.
She was the last surviving one of
a large family of brothers and
sisters.
She early in life professed faith
in Jesus Christ, united with the
Baptist church and remained a consistent
Christian till the close of
life.
The funeral services held at the
home of C. D. Woodward, on Monday
at 2:30 P. M., were conducted
by Rev. W. W. Hartsough, assisted
by Rev. H. L. Wissler. Interment in
Exira Cemetery.
