STOCKTON - Gerald Bayne Petersen, 59, son of Alex and Olga Larson Petersen, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton. Gerald Bayne Petersen was born in 1919 & in 1925 at 16 years of age he changed his name to Gerald Bayne Peterson. He graduated from Harlan High School in 1938 and enlisted in the Army Air Corp. in 1941. He served in Germany, Holland, Belgium and France during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Audrey Sears on Sept. 20, 1969 in San Francisco, Calif. and they made their home in Stockton, Calif. where Gerald continued to work with Occidental Chemical Co. He was a past member of the Helmer Reyelt Post #150; American Legion of Harlan and member of the DAV of Calif.
His survivors include his wife, Audrey of Stockton, Calif.; a son Donald of Jonesboro, Ark.; two daughters, Patricia Petersen and Kae Petersen, both of Calif.; two granddaughters; two sisters, Marilyn Christensen and Shirley Hutt both of Calif.; nieces and nephews and other relatives. Gerald was formerly married to Margaret Mary Clinker, born Feb. 26, 1924 in England and passed August 16, 1984 in Poole, Yorkshire, England. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Norton.
Funeral services were held at Pauley Funeral Home in Harlan with Pastor C. Donald Thrash, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery.
