HOUSTON, MN. - Frances Joan Curtis, daughter of Chris M. and Nelsena (Nelson) Christensen was born July 5,1909, on a farm near Rabbit Hollow in Shelby County. She attended country school in Center Twp., and graduated from Marian High School in 1927.
Jan. 7, 1932, she married Victor I. Curtis at Omaha, NE. Three daughters were born to this union. After their marriage, they made their home in Harlan where Mr. Curtis operated his own trucking business. After the death of her husband July 27, 1982, she moved to Houston, MN., to be near her daughter. It was there that she died Jan. 12, 1992, at age 82 years, six months, and six days.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace. She is survived by her daughters, Louree (Larry) Petersen of Boulder, CO.; Janelle (Neil) Christensen of Houston, MN., and Margie (Donald) Howell of Scottsdale, AZ.; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jean (Robert) McLean of Tacoma, WA, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16, 1992 at Pauley Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Nelsen of First Baptist Church in Harlan, officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Clifford Hanson, H. Clay Pauley, Delbert Edwards, Harold R. Olsen, Tony Christensen and Virgil C. Christensen, casketbearers. Pauley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
