Andrew Scott Johnston, son Andrew Scott Johnston and Emily McClure, was born Jan. 31, 1845 in Feesburg, Brown Co., Ohio and died Mar. 9, 1929 in Clearfield, Taylor Co., Iowa. He enlisted in Co. L, 9th Iowa Cavalry Regiment June 29, 1863 as a farrier and was mustered out Feb. 3, 1866 at Little Rock, Arkansas. He married Caroline Avery April 3, 1870 in Taylor Co., Iowa.
