[Email]Lee M. Waldorf of Mitchellville, died May 28, 2013. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Hamilton's Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Ave. S. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 31, at Mitchellville Christian Church, 210 3rd St. NW.
Lee was the son of Viva and Harry Waldorf. After graduation from Mitchellville High School, Lee joined the US Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was then married to his wife Wilma for over 64 years and raised their family in Mitchellville. Lee worked as a meat cutter in the central Iowa area. He served as a member of the Mitchellville Fire Department for 30 years. Lee was also a member of American Legion Post 155 and the Mitchellville Christian Church. Lee enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Rodger; infant sister, Alice; and brother, Gene. Lee is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons, Phil (Dana), Paul (Cheryl), and Pat (Karen); daughter-in-law, Paula; eight grandchildren; Cara, Krista, Dustin, Jack, Lauren, Mike, Andrea and Austin; along with five great-grandchildren.
