New York CemeteryWayne County, IowaHarriett Rebecca Ross, was born in Ohio on Sept. 16, 1865 the 5th of six children of Louis and Rachel (Gilham) Webber. Her siblings: John, Nathaniel, Susan, Rachel and Ida.
When just a child she moved with her parents to Wayne County, Iowa and settled northeast of Corydon in Bethlehem township. The family is found there in the 1870 census and this is where Harriett lived most of her life.
On March 12, 1844, at 18 years of age, Harriett was married to William Wallace Ross, son of Hugh Wilson Ross and Phoebe Jane Green. To this union eight children were born: Lewis, Everett, Albert, Fern, Charles, Fay, Verdon and Naoma.
Mrs. Ross passed away at Clarinda, Iowa on November 3, 1955 at the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 17 days. She had been ill about a year and a half. She was preceded in death by her husband (in 1928) and by two sons, Everett and Verdon and one daughter, Naoma.

[A survey of the cemetery in 1976 did not reveal Harriett's husband, William Ross' gravesite though his obituary stated he was buried at New York.]
