[Email]Mrs. Elmer K. (Carmella A. Pfeiler Reichel) Nehls, 83, of 2925 Muscatine St., died Monday, March 6, 2006, at Stonehill Care Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Nehls worked as secretary and assistant service officer at the American Legion from 1958 to 1963. Her last employment was in the Industrial Engineering Department at John Deere Dubuque Works for 18 years prior to her retirement in 1982.
She was born on July 2, 1922, in Holy Cross, Iowa, daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Koeller) Pfeiler.
She graduated from the former Immaculate Conception Academy.
She married John J. Reichel on July 14, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on July 17, 1991. She later married Elmer K. Nehls on Feb. 25, 1995, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Holy Ghost Rosary Society, the Dubuqueland Women's Bowling Association, 600 Bowling Club, John Deere Retiree Association and Women of the Moose.
Surviving are her husband, Elmer Nehls, of Dubuque; a daughter, Janet (Edward) Oberbroeckling, of Epworth, Iowa; a son, Bill (Lynn) Reichel, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Steve (Stephanie) Oberbroeckling, of Lexington, S.C., Debra (Brian) Coy, of Byron, Minn., Jeff (Gina) Reichel and Terry (Tammy) Reichel, both of Dubuque, Cara (Todd) Benjamin, of Pearland, Texas, Scott (Deanna) Reichel, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Aimee Reichel, of West Des Moines, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Merlin J. Pfeiler and Donald J. (Mickey) Pfeiler, both of Dubuque.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Coleman
