Robert Massie Powell, son of Horatio Nelson Powell and Elizabeth Ely, was born June 2, 1836 in New Hampshire Co., Virginia and died Nov. 6, 1909 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Elizabeth Jane Chiles Feb. 20, 1873 in Mercer Co., Illinois.
