He was the son of Lot Pearson and Sofia Staley. He married Clarissa Tucker in Livingston Co., Illinois on 26 Mar 1852. They had no children. On 8 Mar 1856, he married Sarah L. Hefner in Avoca, Livingston Co., Illinois. They had six children: Willys O., Mattie Alice, Leo Will, Oscar Eli, Eva, and Maud.
