MARTIN WAGNER, of the firm of Schulte & Wagner, stonecutters and contractors, White street, corner Tenth, Dubuque; is a native of Germany, and was born in Hesse-Datmstadt in 1833; he grew up and learned his trade there, and came to the United States in 1854; he came to Dubuque in September of the same year, and began working at his trade; in 1867, he associated with Mr. Schulte, and since Con't.

In 1860, he married Miss Margaret Burkhart, from Byrne, Germany; they have eight children- Mary, Margaret, Henry, Caddie, Lizzie, John, Mena and Christina.
