Mariam Jordan Leighton was the daughter of Isaac and Permelia (Lancaster) Leighton. She was born on March 30, 1841 in Cattaraugus County, New York. Thomas Jefferson Allen was born on November 8, 1836 in Franklin County, Indiana, the son of John Allen IV and Frances Thompson. Mariam and TJ married on January 1, 1861. Mariam died on March 6, 1907. TJ died on April 6, 1923.
