Aslak Scarvie was the father of Pastor Simon Scarvie. Pastor Simon Scarvie served both East and West Paint Creek Churches from 1905 to 1912. Pastor Scarvie was called when the East and West Paint Creek congregations split over the Predestination Controversy in the Norwegian Synod. The "new" East and West churches remained loyal to the Norwegian Synod and built new churches.
