Nettie was the daughter of William Beach (1823 - 1891) and Louise H. Houghton (1833 - 1923). She married Peter Payne. They were the parents of Ivan and Alford. She married 2nd Henry Clifford on 28 May 1904 in Glidden, Iowa.
