Lucinda was the daughter of David Holmes and Eliza Millet. She married David Allen Nichols McElwain in about 1952. They had three children: Allen Nichols [b. 1856]; Harriet Lucinda [b. 1858]; and Park William [b. 1859]. David A. N. McElwain died in 1880 and is buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon, O'Brien County, Iowa.
