John was the son of Peter Roth and Sybilla Mary Stirman. He married Francis Albers on May 23, 1872, in Guttenberg, IA. They were the parents of John, Joe, Edward, Will, Sylvester, Frank, Mary, and Amelia. Also Frances, William, Herman and Elizabeth who died when they were small children.
