Martin was the son of Nicholas Reinhart and Catharine Pautler. He married Barbara Schuler on April 13, 1857 at Peoria, IL. In 1883 they moved to Carroll Co, IA. They were the parents of 10 children: Lewis, Frank, Theresia, John, Joe, Anton, Martin, Maud, George, and Charles.
