Anton Cemetery
Black Hawk County, Iowa

Marker was moved from it's original location decades ago when the local 4H club cleaned the cemetery. Elizabeth is buried here, but it is unknown if the marker is actually located at her burial site. When the stone was transcribed back in 2001, it was partially legible (minus the last digit of the death year, years aged, and Bible verse). The following information is from our family records & documented through legal documents.

Elizabeth Baldwin, nee Bown. Wife of James Baldwin (1825-1864). Elizabeth was born 09 August 1833 in England. She died 11 August [1880] just 2 days after her birthday. She was the mother of 5 children. Her husband died at Vicksburg, Mississippi after serving only 6 months in the War of the Rebellion (US Civil War). He is buried at Vicksburg Nat'l Cemetery. There is a child buried with Elizabeth, but we are unsure if it is a child or grandchild of hers.
