Benson Fordyce, son of John Fordyce and Elizabeth Garard, was born Dec. 21, 1816 in Greene Co., Pennsylvania and died Sept. 14, 1895 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married 1) Maria Nichols April 23, 1838 (date given in obituary) in Greene Co., Pennsylvania; 2) Rachel Sharpnac, after 1868 and 3) Frances Ann Moore Dale in 1873 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. Most sources give the date for the 1st marriage as Sept. 1, 1839.
