Andrew Jackson DeMoss Sr was born 6 Jun 1829 in Dearborn County, Indiana, the son of John J. DeMoss Jr. and Mary Billingsly. Andrew left Indiana for Iowa with his parents between 1843 and 1845 when they joined a large wagon train. On 4 Mar 1852 in Marion County, Iowa, Andrew married Malinda Adaline Campbell, daughter of Alexander and Rachel (Stark) Campbell. They had 11 children, 2 died young.
