Thomas was born 4 Apr 1894 in Monroe Co., Iowa the 5th of six children of John Thomas & Frances Jane "Jennie" (Gray) DeMoss. He died 23 Jan 1959 in a coal mine collapse 9 miles NE of Albia. He was married twice. His 1st wife, Norena Mortley, with whom he had one son, died 1931. He married Flora Marie Sebben, dau of Angelo & Delitta (DelVesco) Sebben, on 30 Jan 1933 in Albia. They had 13 children.
