Herbert L. Lake, son of John Brown Lake and Amelia H. Norwood, was born in 1853 in Gloucester, Essex Co., Massachusetts and died Feb. 17, 1943 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He married Mary Ann Schwemley May 20, 1885 in Taylor Co., Iowa. She was born Jan. 15, 1862 near Conway, Taylor Co., Iowa, daughter of William Schwemley and Lucinda Allison, and died Sept. 2, 1944 in Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa.
