John Garard Bowen, son of Thomas Bowen and Rachel Fordyce, was born Oct. 20, 1844 in Greene Co., Pennsylvania and died Nov. 22, 1881 at Conway, Taylor Co., Iowa. He served in Co. G, 138th Illinois Infantry. See separate entry under his name for a photo of his family headstone.
