This "Unknown THOMAS" is the stone of Asenath (Butler) (Preston) Thomas. She was the widow of Asa Thomas at the time of her death at Jones County, Iowa. She died 4 April 1888. An earlier transcription of the stone is still able to be retrieved from the Way-Back machine. That transcription seems off by exactly one year; it reads, "Aschath THOMAS died April 4, 1889 aged 83 yrs" ht
