Johanna was the daughter of Jacob and Johanna Dielman Maasdam. She came to Humboldt with her parents at the age of four and was married March 8, 1899 to Peter Erickson at Rutland, Ia. They were the parents of 8 children: Ethel, Helen, Grace, Johanna, Donald, Alfred, and 2 who died as infants.
