Mary was the daughter of William. H. Jenkins and Mary J. Hocking. She married Wilson Wood on 29 May 1887 in Fonda,​ Pocahontas,​ Iowa. They were the parents of 12 chidren: Archer, Alphonzo, Lorna, Bryan, Helena, Martin, Clarence, Geneva, Esther, Woodrow, and Margarite.
