The 1870 census recorded Beata living in Will County, Illinois, with her husband, Andres Omtvedt, and their daughter, Matilda. They lived with Andres' brother, Ole, and his family. Around 1873, Andres bought land in Iowa and moved his family to Pocahontas County.
