On this Leathers family headstone is a memorial inscription for Capt. Robert Lee Leathers, 1931-1960, who evidently died near Okinawa, Japan. He is not buried in this plot, however. Son of Forrest Wesley Leathers and Lapha June Gire Leathers.

[Admin. note: Information found on Ancestry says Robert was in the Marines, born April 29, 1931, and died November 18, 1960. It does not give the circumstances surrounding his death (such as lost during an observation mission). I expected to find his name on the Tablets of the Missing, possibly at Honolulu, Hawaii, but no luck.]
