Married first (in 1898)to Matilda Crail Ratcliff (she died in 1918, buried in Evergreen cemetery in Crail family plot, and she has "Ratcliffe" on her headstone inscription). Married Margaret Davis Peebler-Ratcliff in 1920. She is buried in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa as well.


Bruce is buried in the same Ratcliff family plot as his parents, Robert F Ratcliff and Martha Helen Pike Ratcliff.
