"Jerry" Schwinderman, 73, Harlan, died Sunday, Aug. 5 in Harlan. Services will be Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at Burmeister~Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery. Friends are asked to call Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 9 a.m.~9 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 7~8 p.m. at Burmeister~Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan. Schwinderman is survived by his wife, Mary, of Harlan; Mary's sons John Jurschak of Kirkland, Wa., James (Faith) Jurschak of Reno, Nev., Jerome (Alexia) Jurschak of Katonah, NY and Jay (Darci) Jurschak of Sacramento, Calif.; Mary's daughters Jean Jurschak of LaJolla, Calif., Joan Jurschak of San Diego, Calif. and Julia Jurschak of Sacramento; and Mary's grandsons Andrew and Gregory Jurschak, both of Katonha, NY. = = = = = = Harlan, Iowa News Advertiser Friday, September 7, 2001 Gerald Lavern "Jerry" Schwinderman, 73 Dec. 9, 1927 — Aug. 5, 2001 HARLAN — Gerald Lavern "Jerry" Schwinderman, son of Raymond and Vallie (Donelly) Schwinderman, was born Dec. 9, 1927, in rural Carson. After graduating from Treynor High School, he farmed near Carson, and later worked as a Pepsi distributor in Shelby County. Jerry was also employed by Harlan Manufacturing (Jacobs Tools) until his 1986 retirement. In September 1972, he married Mary (Kirschbaum) Jurschak in Avoca, and the couple lived in Harlan. He became a resident of the Elk Horn Lutheran Home in March 2001. He died Aug. 5, 2001, at Myrtue Memorial Hospital at age 73 years, seven months and 27 days. Preceding him in death were his parents and his first wife, Roxanne. Survivors include his second wife, Mary Schwinderman of Harlan; one sister, Violet (Floyd) Osborn of Carson; Mary's seven children, John Jurschak of Kirkland, WA; James (Faith) Jurschak of Reno, NV; Jerome (Alexia) Jurschak of Katonah, NY; Jay (Darci) Jurschak of Sacramento, CA; Jean Jurschak of LaJolla, CA; Joan Jurschak of San Diego, CA and Julia Jurschak of Sacramento, CA; Mary's two grandsons, Andrew Jurschak and Gregory Jurschak, both of Katonah, NY; and other relatives. Funeral services were held Aug. 8, 2001, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home with Father Jack McClure, C.PP.S. of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan officiating. Casket bearers were Ken Osborn, Jerome Jurschak, Jay Jurschak and Jim Jurschak. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery.
