Gudbrand was born 16th September 1856 in Fåberg, Oppland county, Norway (near Lillehammer). Parents: Lars Halvorsen and Mari Gudmundsdatter (Parish records for Fåberg) - The name Gudbrand or Gulbrand was often changed to Gilbert in America.
