Robert Ellsworth Phillips, son of William L. Phillips and Reeca Ann Adkins, was born Nov. 28, 1865, near DeKalb, Buchanan Co., Missouri and died Aug. 24, 1948 in Iowa City, Johnson Co., Iowa. He married Melissa Viola Griffith Oct. 16, 1890 in Buchanan Co., Missouri. She was born April 18, 1868 in Atchison Co., Kansas, daughter of William Reed Griffith and Elizabeth Judah, and died May 21, 1962 in Corning, Adams Co., Iowa.
