Toledo Chronical 9-10-1936: Life-Long Toledo Resident Died Early Sunday -- Funeral Mrs. H. N . Donaldson Tuesday Afternoon -- Mrs. H. N. Donaldson, 77, a life-long resident of Toledo, died Sunday morning at her home followinig an illness of more than two years. She suffered an ervous breakdown and heart trouble. Rev. Chishold Conducted Rites. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church in charge of Rev. T. W. Chisholm. The music was furnished by Mrs. D. E. Livesay and Mrs. W. E. Whetstine, and they sang "He Knows" and "Nearer, Still Nearer," with the organ accompaniments played by Mrs. H. P. Giger. Casket bearers were H. N. Donaldson, Fred Herman, George Kuhner, C. I. Turbett, W. J. Davidson and T. B. Kepler. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery. The following life sketch was read at the service. Martha Jane Stewart, daughter of Charles and Mary Ann Stewart, was born in Toledo April 8, 1859, and died at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 29 days. Her marriage to Hiram Donaldson took place January 16, 1878, and they spent their entire lives in thi s community. Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson were the parents of seven children. A daughter, Edith died in infancy, those who with their father survive are William, of Colo; Arthur, Green Mountain; Earl, Toledo; Carl, Des Moines; Mrs. Tressie Norris, and Mrs. Helen Pecenka, Toledo. Two brothers and a sister also mourn her death, Charles Stewart, Toledo; John Stewart, of Fulton, Missouri; and Mrs. Mary Ellen West of Washington, D. C. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Will Donaldson and Mr. and Mrs. Watson Donaldson, Colo; Willard Donaldson, Fernald; Art Donaldson, Green Mountain; Carl Donaldson, Des Moines; Rans Sharrett, Hudson; Julius Stevenson and Jens Lorensen, Marshalltown; and Jess West, Tama."

Donaldson, Toledo woman, passed away at her home Sunday morning at 6:30 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Presbyterian church. Rev. T. W. Chisholm, the pastor officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn cemetery. Martha Jane Stewart, was born on April 8, 1859 in Toledo, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stewart, and passed away on September 6, 1936, having reached the age of 77 years, four months and 28 days. She spent all of her life in Tama county, living most of the time in Toledo. On January 16, 1878 she was united in marriage with H. N. Donaldson. Seven children were born to their union, one son dying in infancy and four sons and two daughters, who, with their father, survive. The sons are William of Colo, Arthur of Green Mountain, Carl of Des Moines and Earl Donaldson of Toledo, and the daughters are, Mrs. Vern Norris and Mrs. Helen Pecenka, both of Toledo. Eight grandchildren, two brothers, Charles Stewart of Toledo, and John Stewart of Fulton, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen West of Washingon, also su rvive."
