Pleasant Hill Cemetery is located not far from Bear Creek Church and Cemetery at the end of Bear Creek Road. It is north of Earlham, which is in Madison County, but the cemetery is still in Union Township, Dallas County. There was a Pleasant Hill Brethren Church and a school near the cemetery at one time. The church was organized by James Coulter, Eli Cronk and Michael Wickwire, some time after James Coulter settled in the area in November 1868. This information was provided April 12, 1982 by Martha Mendenhall, a Coulter descendant who lives in the area and saw the church and school when she was a child. The church was unused at that time. The Coulter homestead was east and just around the curve north of the cemetery. The Cronk place is south to the corner and east. Most of the graves in the cemetery in 1982 were Coulter and Cronk family members.
