Nadine Quist, 64
HARLAN - Nadine Iowa Quist, daughter of Leonard and Esther Nelson, was born Oct. 17, 1924 at Harlan. She died May 26, 1989, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Omaha, NE., at age 64 years, seven months and nine days. She was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church, Harlan, and was raised by her paternal grandparents, Jacob Nelsons. She attended Harlan Community School through the 11th grade and then moved to CA., where she completed her high school education.
Dec. 24, 1944, she married John A. Quist in Harlan. Five children were born to this union. After their marriage, they resided in CA, for three years before returning to Harlan to make their home. She helped her husband at Quist Hardware Store and had also been employed at Andersons Clothing as a clerk and at C.D.S. in Harlan. After the death of John in 1986, she continued to make her home in Harlan. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard; a daughter, Laura; and a sister, Marilyn. Surviving her is her daughter, Carolyn Quist of Harlan; two sons, John of San Antonio, Tx., and Steven of Los Angeles, CA.; three grandchildren; her mother, Esther Petersen of Sacramento, CA.; and a brother, David Petersen of Sacramento and other relatives.
Funeral services were held May 31, 1989 at Pauley Funeral Home, Harlan with Pastor Jeff Nelsen of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Harlan cemetery with Roy V. Linton, Randy Musich, John Nowatzke, Duane F. Musich, Dennis Norgaard and Donald E. Norgaard serving as casketbearers.
