Grace R. Brodersen, 85
HARLAN - Grace Roselyn Brodersen, daughter of Dr. Sam and Mary Spencer Beaver was born Nov. 2, 1902 at Kirkman. She was raised and educated in the Harlan area and taught rural school in Shelby County. On Nov. 12, 1921, she married Jacob D. Brodersen and to this union three children were born. They lived in Harlan for many years, where she was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, Zenobia Rebekah Lodge No. 286 of which she was a Past Noble Grand. She has been a resident of Loveland, CO since 1980 and she died there June 23, 1988, at age 85 years, 7 months and 21 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob in 1987, son Robert; one brother and five sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Katheryn Mullaney and Cynthia (Mrs. Roger) Kurtz both of Loveland, CO. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were June 28, 1988 at the Burmeister Funeral Home in Harlan, with Rev. George Gibson officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Dan Hupp, Jim Mullaney, Dennis Mullaney, Roger Jensen, Morgan Camery and Dr. O.M. Juhler serving as casket bearers.

Jacob D. Brodersen, 88
HARLAN — Jacob Dewey Brodersen, son of Peter and Catherine Hoogensen Brodersen was born April 27,1898 near Harlan. He attended Western Iowa Vocational College.
On Nov. 12,1921, he married Grace Beaver. He operated a General Merchandise Store and a Feed and Seed business for many years. A later venture was the Studebaker Auto Dealership. For eight years, 1957-65, he served as Shelby County Deputy Sheriff. He was a Harlan councilman from 1936-1940; and past president of the Harlan Chamber of Commerce in 1949. He was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ, I.O.O.F. Lodge, Masonic Lodge and Abu-Bekr Shrine. He has been a resident of Loveland, CO., since 1980 and died April 26,1987 at age 88 years, 11 months and 29 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert; brother, Henry.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; two daughters, Mary Kathern Mullaney and Cynthia, Mrs Roger Kurtz all of Loveland and sister, Cecil Camery of Harlan, He is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were April 30,1987 at the Congregational Church of Christ with Rev. Dennis Brayman, officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Bob Boysen, Gaillard Lund, Raymond Hoegh, Orrell Gearhart, Victor Hoogensen and Gilbert Hoogensen serving as casketbearers. Services were conducted by the Burmeister Funeral Home.
