Emma Anderson was born November 7, 1873 near Independence, Iowa and passed away May 7, 1954 at her home in Harlan, Iowa at the age of 80 years and 6 months. On May 24, 1894 she was united in marriage to Charles P. Christiansen at the 7th Ave Baptist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Three years later they moved to a farm in Cuppy's Grove, and since that time they have lived in the Harlan vicinity, with the exception of a few years spent in Missouri Valley, Iowa. They left their farm home and moved to Harlan nine years ago this spring. If she had lived until May 24 they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Christiansen accepted Christ as her personal Saviour when a very young girl at the Pine Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs. Hazel (Edwin R.) Christiansen; Mrs. Ethel (Edwin W.) Larsen; Roy H. Christiansen and Carlton P. Christiansen all of Harlan, Iowa. A son, Herbert D. preceded him mother in death December 23, 1939. She also leaves two brothers, James P. Anderson of Rowley, Iowa and John E. Anderson of Harlan, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, May 10 at the Bethel Baptist church with the Rev. S.P. Andersen in charge. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery. Pallbearers were Eugene R. Christensen, Orin C. Christensen, Lloyd Nelson, Donald Johnson, Mr. G. Johnson and Richard Johnson.
